The fact that I always have to defend my choice for Pentax SLRs, or any other non-Canon-Nikon brand, shows how powerful the marketing of these two companies is. 'I am a Nikon' the advertisements blurts out, 'be creative' a canonball is fired at you. There is no reason not to choose for Pentax, Sony, Minolta or whatever brand, other than that you want to be taken seriously as an (amateur)photographer.
The bigger the lens tells you it's a CanNikon, the more status you'll gain, but 'show me your pictures, not your camera brand!'
People taking snapshots or worse, film, with a camera-lens combination of over 3000 euro's (EOS 5D MkII), can be seen in the omnipresent Google domain at Picassa's.
But still, I am using my K20D now for two-and-a-half year, I am thinking of buying a K5 plus some extra glasswork, ignoring all those people questioning my choice for a Pentax SLR, 'show me your pictures, instead of your camera brand!'. I hope Pentax will continue its way up and will give us many nice SLRs in the near future. I can't do without the sound ergonomics and the high quality they give us.
